Job Description

To work at a nursery located in Sheffield 6.  The nursery work with children starting from 3 months of age through to 5 year olds. The apprentice will be responsible for providing quality care in a stimulating yet safe and secure environment.

- Plan and participate in activities to encourage children to develop individually through play.

- Contribute to positive relationships with children.

- Maintain children's safety during play.

- Respond to injuries and signs of illness

- Assist and snack and meal times

- Support staff and maintain good standards safeguarding, health & safety and hygiene, follow company policies at all times and respect confidentiality.

Training:  The successful apprentice will work towards a level 2 Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Childcare with the opportunity to progress into an Advanced Level Apprenticeship in the future.  The learning provider is Interserve.  *Please note that in order to progress or to start on a childcare level 3 apprenticeship applicants must have achieved GCSE maths and English at grade C or above. 

Hours:  40 hours/week

Pay:  £2.73/hour (approx. £109/week based on 40 hours).

Job Requirements

Job Description

This programme is aimed at 16-18 year olds who require skills and work experience needed to find an apprenticeship or a job.  Learners will receive lots of support and have the chance to gain qualifications. The programme will include job search and a work experience placement that is designed to support learners into employment or apprenticeship opportunities. The learner will receive support and guidance from an Employment Engagement Officer who will source an appropriate work placement.   Additional job seeking support will be provided such as:  CV completion, cover letters, application support, access to internet/email, interview preparation plus advice and guidance throughout the programme.  CTS are located in Sheffield city centre.

Training: Vocational qualifications are offered in a range of subject areas: 

Level 1 Certificate in Health and Social Care

Level 1 Certificate in Caring for Children

Level 1 Certificate in Retail Knowledge

Level 1 Certificate in Public Services*

Level 1 Certificate Employability and Personal Development

Level 1 Certificate in Personal and Social Development.

Learners who do not have a GCSE A*-C in English and Maths to work towards a Functional Skill qualification in English and Maths at the right level for the learner (up to Level 2).  Functional skills qualifications are available in:  English (Entry 1 – Level 2), Maths (Entry 1 – Level 2), ICT (Entry 3 – Level 2) and ESOL (Entry 1 – Entry 3).

Job Description

The apprentice will be based at brain injury rehabilitation and neurological centre in Sheffield 36.  This is a specialist centre providing both long-term and short-term person-centred rehabilitation, care and support for male and female adults (aged 18+ years) with a brain injury or other complex neurological condition. 

Act within the role of Key Worker to a small number of resident which will involve obtaining a sound knowledge of the Resident’s life history and routines, personality, physical health and those factors that influence the way that the Resident would choose to receive their care and support. 

Duties include:

Ensure the highest possible levels of care are maintained by supporting/assisting people in our Care, when required, with washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, and all other aspects of daily living.

Assist people in all aspects of their care needs (e.g. physical, emotional and spiritual). Provide attention when needed, whilst ensuring people retain their comfort and dignity.

Pay particular attention to assisting people who have limited mobility, or physical / learning difficulties, making the best use of aids provided.

Closely monitor people who may be confused and / or who have behavioural problems.

Assist in the promotion of continence.

Assist in the delivery of care for people who are dying or who have a progressive illness.

Observe care planning needs for people and complete written daily records as instructed and in line with the company’s policies and procedures.

Assist in framework of social activities by interacting with people and helping them continue with hobbies and activities in the Care Home.

Under the supervision and guidance of senior care staff, report on the well-being of people

Carry out regular checks on people at intervals determined by senior staff members.

Make Visitors feel welcome, provide refreshments/assistance as and when required

Make and change beds, ensuring that rooms are clean and tidy, and commodes are empty, in line with the Care Home’s disposal of waste policy

Clean and maintain equipment used by people / relatives e.g. wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles etc. Ensure the Care Home is kept clean and tidy.

If applicable, care for people’s clothing and rooms as named, and ensure that all clothing is recorded and clearly marked

Ensure full privacy and dignity is maintained for the dying and the bereaved, in line with the company’s policies and procedures

Assist people who need help during meal times (be aware of swallowing difficulties, dietary requirements etc).

Assist with serving of food / drinks as requested / required. Set and clear tables and trays. Wash up as requested / required.

Escort people travelling to and from the Care Home e.g. on social outings, hospital visits etc.
This is an excellent opportunity for the apprentice to progress in to a permanent position in the company.

Training:  Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Health & Social Care.  The learning provider is Interserve Learning & Employment.

Hours:  35 hours per week, various shift patterns.

Pay:  £119/week to start.  On review of performance after 6 months wages will be reviewed with the view to increasing significantly by £2 per hour.

 

Job Requirements

No formal qualifications required although a good level of literacy and numeracy would be an advantage.  Good communication skills and enthusiasm to learn.  Good observation skills and a passion for working in the care sector.  Patient and caring with clean appearance.  Understanding, personable, hardworking and passionate.

Job Description

Traineeships can help you to develop the skills wanted by employers to help you to become more competitive when applying for employment or apprenticeships. You will spend time attending study days at In Touch Care to gain knowledge of the sector and going into a work placement to learn the practical/hands on skills to carry out the job and to help you to move on into paid employment or an apprenticeship.  

In Touch Care can also deliver apprenticeship training.  You may move onto an apprenticeship when you have completed your traineeship, but please note that sometimes apprenticeships are available from day one.

Training:  On the Traineeship you can work towards Functional Skills in maths and English and gain an employability qualification.  You will gain CV writing, interview skills and work experience.

On an Apprenticeship will work towards an appropriate vocational qualification.   

Hours:  On traineeship - minimum of 18 hours/week on a 10 week minimum rolling programme.  . Will spend a minimum of 6 weeks in a high quality work placement.  The programme can last for a maximum of 6 months. On an apprenticeship - will work 30 to 40 hours/week.

Pay:  Not applicable on traineeships. Learner will be issued with a South Yorkshire travel pass when on the Traineeship programme. 19+ learners who are in receipt of JSA on this Traineeship will be able to continue to claim JSA.

 

Job Requirements

For traineeships must be 16 – 24 and must be not engaged in employment, education or training.  Should be focused on finding an apprenticeship or employment.

For apprenticeships – requirements vary depending upon the employer and the framework of the apprenticeship.
