Job Description

To work at a nursery infant and primary school, located at Waterthorpe, Sheffield 20.  The apprentice will be responsible for various duties in the nursery to ensure children are providing with quality care during their time in the nursery.  

Duties and responsibilities:

· Provide opportunities for children to develop individually through play.

· Plan/coordinate and take part in activities.

· Support children with learning and reading.

· Help children at meal times and snack times.

· Liaise with parents and guardians.

· Contribute to positive relationships with children.

· Maintain children’s safety during play.

· Respond to injuries and signs of illness.

Support staff and maintain good standards safeguarding, health & safety and hygiene, follow company policies at all times and respect confidentiality.

Training:  Will receive a full company induction and 1-1 mentoring and support. The successful apprentice will work towards a level 2 or childcare qualification with esg. All training is 100% work-based and you will receive 1-1 training and guidance from your esg assessor.  There may be an opportunity to progress into a permanent position within the school after completion of the apprenticeship.      

Hours:  Monday to Friday 32 hours per week.

Pay:  £2.73 per hour. (£87.36/week based on 32 hours).

Job Requirements

A-C in maths and English GCSE or equivalent of e.g. Functional skills. Some experience of working in a nursery, school or playgroup. You need to be confident and proactive individual who is able to use own initiative. Good communication skills are vital in this role; successful applicants will be able to interact with children and staff. Ability to be able to follow daily routines. Must be prepared to support senior staff with children’s learning through activities/reading etc.   Good literacy and numeracy skills essential.  Caring nature, mature, supportive and responsible attitude. Must enjoy working with children and have an enthusiastic and confident personality.

Job Description

Job Requirements

Applicants must have experience of working in a school, nursery or playgroup OR a level 2 childcare qualification.  Must have GCSE A-C grades in Maths and English. You need to be confident and the ability to work independently without the need for close supervision.  Communication skills are vital in this role as successful applicants will be able to interact with children and staff and parents.  Caring and compassionate nature, with mature and responsible attitude.   Must enjoy working with children, be fun, outgoing, energetic and able to think on your feet.

Traineeships are available NOW through Age UK.   A Traineeship will give you the opportunity of not only gaining knowledge through classroom based sessions but also the expertise and practical skills required to work within the industry through a work experience placement.  On the Traineeship you will have a work placement in a health and social care setting such as a residential home, nursing home, day care centre and domiciliary.  Duties will be to provide care and support.  Also organising and facilitating social activities.

 

Training:  English and maths support to improve young people’s literacy and numeracy, if required.  Will gain a meaningful work experience placement as part of the Traineeship.

 

Hours:  16+/week for up to 6 months.

 

Incentives:  Travel costs and lunch when in training centre.  If you move onto a paid Apprenticeship will be paid a minimum of £2.73/hour from October, but would not receive travel costs or lunch.

Must be genuinely interested in working with in the health and social care sector.  May suit you if you are unemployed and have little work experience, are motivated to work, are 16 – 18 and qualified below Level 3 or 19 – 23 and have not yet achieved a full Level 2.

Job Description

Traineeships can help you to develop the skills wanted by employers to help you to become more competitive when applying for employment or apprenticeships. You will spend time attending study days at In Touch Care to gain knowledge of the sector and going into a work placement to learn the practical/hands on skills to carry out the job and to help you to move on into paid employment or an apprenticeship.

In Touch Care can also deliver Apprenticeship training.  You may move onto an Apprenticeship when you have completed your Traineeships, but please note that sometimes Apprenticeships are available from day one.

Requirements:  For Traineeships must be 16 – 24 and must be not engaged in employment, education or training.  Should be focused on finding an apprenticeship or employment.

For Apprenticeships – requirements vary depending upon the employer and the framework of the apprenticeship.

Training:  On the Traineeship you can work towards Functional Skills in maths and English and gain an employability qualification.  You will gain CV writing, interview skills and work experience.

On an Apprenticeship will work towards an appropriate vocational qualification.   

Hours:  On Traineeship - minimum of 18 hours/week on a 10 week minimum rolling programme.  . Will spend a minimum of 6 weeks in a high quality work placement.  The programme can last for a maximum of 6 months.

Pay:  Not applicable on Traineeships. Learner will be issued with a South Yorkshire travel pass when on the Traineeship programme. 19+ learners who are in receipt of JSA on this Traineeship will be able to continue to claim JSA.

Job Description

This programme is aimed at 16-18 year olds who require skills and work experience needed to find an apprenticeship or a job.  Learners will receive lots of support and have the chance to gain qualifications. The programme will include job search and a work experience placement that is designed to support learners into employment or apprenticeship opportunities. The learner will receive support and guidance from an Employment Engagement Officer who will source an appropriate work placement.   Additional job seeking support will be provided such as:  CV completion, cover letters, application support, access to internet/email, interview preparation plus advice and guidance throughout the programme.  CTS are located in Sheffield city centre.

Training: Vocational qualifications are offered in a range of subject areas: 

Level 1 Certificate in Health and Social Care

Level 1 Certificate in Caring for Children

Level 1 Certificate in Retail Knowledge

Level 1 Certificate in Public Services*

Level 1 Certificate Employability and Personal Development

Level 1 Certificate in Personal and Social Development.

Learners who do not have a GCSE A*-C in English and Maths to work towards a Functional Skill qualification in English and Maths at the right level for the learner (up to Level 2).  Functional skills qualifications are available in:  English (Entry 1 – Level 2), Maths (Entry 1 – Level 2), ICT (Entry 3 – Level 2) and ESOL (Entry 1 – Entry 3).

Hours:  Minimum of 12 hours/week for between 12 to 52 weeks to be agreed with each learner on an individual basis.
