Doing Good Business

Doing Good Business (DGB) is Building Better Opportunities programme funded through Big Lottery and European Social Fund as part of the 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme in England. It is an enterprise and employment support project covering the Sheffield City Region for unemployed and economically inactive people aimed at moving them into, or closer to, the labour market.

The programme is delivered by a number of community partners providing a personalised coaching service for people aged 25 and over, and unemployed or economically inactive. Each client has a dedicated coach who will guide that client through their individual and personal journey. Clients can be supported by a Barrier Busting Budget to enable them to access work and support.   Client journeys should lead to one of the following outcomes:

  • Into work
  • Into self-employment including sole trader or business start up
  • Into set up of social enterprise or CIC.
  • Jobseekers and economically inactive into Education
  • Economically inactive into job search

Coaching is delivered in local community organisations/ libraries / Prospects Offices/ Sheffield Futures offices or client homes etc.

Support includes one to one coaching by a dedicated coach and may include referral to other organisations for appropriate support, independent guidance, training or learning, work placement, volunteering, attending talks / events, enterprise activities, etc.

In addition a regional network of eight additional Community Engagement Partners provide referrals to the project for their clients.

The project launched in October 2016 and will run until October 2018.

Our overall objectives for the project are:

  1. To provide the best possible service for our clients
  2. To meet our targets as set out by funders
  3. To support the development of string partnerships.

We monitor objective 2 in house but are now looking for an organisation or individual who can deliver an independent external qualitative evaluation of performance against objectives 1 and 3 at two stages –

  • one in January in order to identify where we are performing well and where we are underperforming and need to improve.
  • a second in September 2018 to identify lessons learned to inform the design and delivery of future programmes.

We anticipate the evaluation will comprise:

  • Interviews with project lead, delivery partners, Community Engagement Partners
  • Survey with clients
  • Interviews with a sample of clients
  • Reporting
  • A presentation of findings

We do not expect tender costings to exceed £6,000 in total for both stages.

If you wish to tender for this work please complete the below Tender Document and return to funding@sheffieldfutures.org.uk by 17 January 2018. If you have any queries regarding this tender opportunity please contact Viky Mercer on funding@sheffieldfutures.org.uk
