We offer a range of courses to support the delivery of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. These course are run to the standards of the DofE’s Modular Training Framework (MTF).

All our training courses are also available by request on dates to suit you, please make contact with us to discuss your needs.

Introduction to the DofE training course (IttDofE)

The Introduction to the DofE training course will provide you with the information needed to be a DofE Leader and run DofE programmes within a centre. It will put the learning from e-induction into context in a practical way.

• It is suitable for new DofE Leaders as well as existing Leaders who want to improve their DofE knowledge

• Understanding DofE levels, sections, timescales and the development of DofE programmes

• The DofE structure and how it supports you

• The key roles of DofE Leaders

• How to ensure that the programme is based around the needs of the young people

• Information on the range of resources available to help you

• Good practice in the delivery of DofE programmes.

Providing you with the information needed to be a DofE Leader and run DofE programmes within a centre.

 

Expedition Supervisor Training Course (ESTC)

The Expedition Supervisor Training Course (ESTC) will provide a pathway for both existing and new Expedition Supervisors.

It is a full day course and it has been designed to provide DofE Expedition Supervisors with an understanding and consistent interpretation of their role and responsibilities within the DofE, ensuring high quality experiences for young people.

It will cover:

• The roles that adults play in the Expedition section

• The three levels of supervision and how to use them

• What a Supervisor needs to do prior to, during and after expeditions

• Safety and emergency procedures and how they relate to expeditions

• The duty of care for a Supervisor

• How to become a proactive Supervisor.

The course will be delivered around the Burbage Valley.

Providing DofE Expedition Supervisors with an understanding and consistent interpretation of their role and responsibilities.

 

Expedition Assessor Accreditation Scheme (EAAS)

The Expedition Assessor Accreditation Scheme (EAAS) provides the opportunity for new Expedition Assessors to have their training, skills and learning accredited by the DofE and nationally recognised.

The course trains and accredits people who want to assess Bronze, Silver and Gold expeditions in the UK.

The programme has been designed to provide:

• A clear understanding of your role and responsibilities as an Expedition Assessor

• Increase your knowledge of the Expedition section

• Have the opportunity to network with other Expedition Assessors

• Achieve a nationally recognised accreditation.

The network of qualifying expeditions delivered by DofE Sheffield Operating Authority will be utilised to offer opportunities for the supported assessment element.
