This is an opportunity to work within a branch of an established chain of nurseries with 4 sites across Sheffield.  The Sheffield S6 branch is currently recruiting.  The nursery aims to provide quality care to children from 3 months to 5 years of age in a safe yet stimulating environment. The role of the apprentice is to promote the physical, social, emotional development of each child and contribute towards their care and supervision. The apprentice will be involved in the planning of activities to stimulate children in their care.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

– Assisting with play times, meal times, organising activities and liaising with parents.  You will be a confident communicator with the ability to work proactively within the workplace.

– Provide opportunities for children to develop individually through play.

– Liaise with parents and guardians.

– Contribute to positive relationships with children.

– Maintain children’s safety during play.

– Respond to injuries and signs of illness.

– Support staff and maintain good standards safeguarding, health & safety and hygiene, follow company policies at all times and respect confidentiality.

 

Requirements:   GCSE A-C/9-4 grades, or equivalent, in maths and English an advantage.  Some previous experience of children is an advantage, for example babysitting, working in a nursery or playgroup. Ability to follow instructions and work on own initiative as necessary. Good verbal communication and listening skills to communicate effectively with parents, carers and other professionals. Able to keep accurate records and to implement high health and safety standards.  Work flexibly as part of a team.  Hardworking, reliable and trustworthy.  Able to work in a team with good people skills.  Caring and compassionate, must enjoy working with children and be willing to learn.  The successful candidate will be required to complete a full DBS Check.


Training: 
The apprentice will work towards an Intermediate Level 2 Certificate in Children & Young People’s Workforce. Expected duration is 12 months.  The learning provider is Interserve Learning & Employment.

Hours:  32 – 40 hours/week, Mon – Fri depending upon branch.  Shifts to be confirmed, 7.30am start possible.

Pay:  £3.70/hour (£118.40/week based on 32 hours).
