Street League change lives through football, they specialise in helping young people aged 16-24 progress from their own unique football and education programmes into employment or if you would prefer to move forward into education or training. Street League deliver several programmes with their main programmes being run from the English Institute of Sport (EIS) in Attercliffe where the likes of Anthony Joshua and other elite athletes train. You also have the opportunity to play football as part of your course if you want to.

 

Street League Academy

Street League will work with you to help you to gain confidence and to improve your key skills in areas such as confidence, teamwork, communication and leadership.  You will also work on employability skills such as working on your CV, interview techniques, application forms, mock interviews and personal skills and attributes. As well working towards gaining the Level 1 Award in Skills for Employment, Training and Personal Development you will be have the opportunity to complete Functional Skills in Maths and English up to Level 2, or you can just work on achieving a qualification in one of these subject areas. This programme includes the opportunity to undertake a work placement with a range of employers. You’ll get the chance to take part in daily football activities as well as compete in fixtures and tournaments. Street League have very strong links with some major employers in Sheffield including Plusnet, Decathlon, Jewson, SIV and more. This programme can last from between 10 to 20 weeks depending upon your individual needs.   Street League will also support you with job, training and course searches to help you to move forward at the end of your programme.

 

Traineeship

If you are aged 19 – 24 you could complete a traineeship which will include completing a minimum of a 100 hour work placement, complete up to Level 2 in Functional Maths & English or you can just work on one of these areas if you already have a Level 2 or equivalent qualification and take part in various work preparation workshops based around CV’s, interview techniques, application forms, mock interviews and personal skills and attributes. You’ll get the chance to take part in daily football activities as well as compete in fixtures and tournaments.  You will be supported at the end of this programme to find something positive to move onto whether that is an apprenticeship, job, further training or education.  The traineeship lasts anywhere between 10 to 20 weeks depending on individual needs.

 

The Job Hub

You can work on your CV, search and apply for any relevant courses and receive job application support. You can also join in the football activities. This programme is suitable for any young people who are looking for a quicker progression into education, employment or training.

 

Requirements:   Ideally should be aged 19 – 24 and not in work, education or training.  You don’t need to be interested in football in order to apply!

 

*Limited places for 16 – 18 year olds at the Street League Academy*

 

 Training:  As outlined above.

 

Hours:  Minimum of 10 weeks up to 20 weeks (if studying Maths and English), 4 hours per day for 4 days per week Monday to Thursday at EIS.  Extra support is also offered for up to 24 months after the programme through the Street League after-care service.

 

Incentives:  You will receive a FREE Nike football kit and you will have your travel costs (on public transport) reimbursed when attending the programme. 19+ in receipt of benefits should not be affected (subject to agreement from Jobcentre Plus).
