Vulnerable Young Adult Exploitation Worker

37 Hours a week

Temporary until 30th June 2019

Salary Scale £26,194 per annum

The Role

The Vulnerable Young Adult Exploitation Worker will work in a co-located multi agency team to meet the needs of vulnerable young adults across Sheffield. This role will provide support to proactively identify, assess and support vulnerable young adults aged 18-25 years who have been subjected to sexual exploitation.

The successful applicant will support young adults who are disclosing in an efficient and caring manner and empower them to arrange appointments and accompany where necessary. Engaging young people with complex and multiple needs and helping them to develop resilience to exploitation is a key part of this role.

The post holder will plan, develop and pilot support for young adults to transition effectively into appropriate adult services and therefore effective liaison with adult services to transition from Children’s Services is necessary, along with a focus and commitment to developing partnerships with a range of adult agencies to tackle Sexual Exploitation and its consequences.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have NVQ Level 4 or an equivalent qualification along with significant experience of working with young adults who are hard to reach and difficult to engage and who may be in crisis.

Candidates need an excellent understanding of sexual exploitation, adult safeguarding and the Mental Capacity Act 2005. An ability to identity appropriate and effective intervention strategies from the assessment information and to undertake risk assessments is essential along with maintain accurate records.

You will have excellent organisational skills and have case work experience along with experience of liaising effectively with other professionals and statutory agencies. This role includes elements of lone working so applicants should also have experience of this.
