Careers Advisors

We believe that all young people need access to good quality, impartial careers and education support. Professional independent Information Advice and Guidance (IAG) provision raises aspirations and helps to reduce the likelihood of young people becoming NEET (not in education, employment or training).

We understand the need to secure high quality information, advice and guidance and guidance to young people and that economic conditions have become more challenging for professionals charged with delivering this responsibility.

Information

To make informed decisions, young people and their families need local, up-to-date careers information in a variety of formats. Sheffield Futures can offer you a range of information products, including:

  • Options Guide covering post-16 choices for students in Y11.
  • Access to a wide range of Sheffield Futures produced resources covering career choice and relevant pathways.

Advice

Careers information can be complex so young people and their families often need somebody to help them make sense of it. Sheffield Futures can provide a range of advice services including:

  • Open access, lunchtime clinics with a Careers Adviser in your school or college
  • Open access Careers Adviser clinics at parents events
  • A local telephone helpline

Guidance

We recommend a one-to-one discussion with a qualified, independent Careers Adviser to help all young people make informed decisions.

At Sheffield Futures our Careers Advisers:

  • Are professionally qualified to Level 6 and CDI Registered
  • Have no affiliation to any educational establishment, employer or learning provider
  • Have enhanced DBS status
  • Are supported through continued professional development

We Deliver

  • Guidance interviews for individuals or small groups of students in Y9-Y13, discussing next steps and option choices
  • An individual Action Plan for every student
