Capital Project Lead – Transforming Star House

The project

We’ve got a truly unique opportunity for a creative, proactive individual to get genuinely involved in a project aimed at transforming our city centre space into a vibrant Centre for Youth. Sheffield is rapidly developing around us, and we’re determined to establish a one-of-a-kind space in the heart of the city that belongs to young people, for young people, by young people. The potential is there to create a central space for young people to access support and activities, a social enterprise hub, a research and innovation lab, and more.

As project lead, you’ll have creative freedom to explore innovative ideas and think outside of the box, identify and connect with potential partners, and coordinate a working group with the shared goal of seeing this ambitious vision come to life.

This would be perfect for you if:

  • You’re creative, passionate, ambitious, proactive, and energetic
  • You want to be part of transforming a city centre asset into a vibrant hub that hosts a range of youth-centred support and activities
  • You want the freedom to run with unconventional ideas
  • You’re able to commit at least 3 hours per week
  • You’re well-connected and knowledgeable about Sheffield

Responsibilities:

  • Actively pursuing ideas of how to transform the building
  • Networking, identifying and engaging relevant decision-makers in the project
  • Regularly connecting with key project stakeholders, updating them on progress
  • Coordinating and chairing regular working group meetings – recording minutes, actions; organising time, date, location, attendees

In return, we can offer:

  • A useful induction to our organisation and a clear sense of how your role aligns with our mission and values
  • A supportive, positive and safe work environment
  • Reimbursement of any agreed out-of-pocket expenses
  • Ongoing support, training and supervision
  • Cover under our public liability policy
